I have been volunteered to make the food for a picnic we are having at my church in a couple of weeks. They are planning on having 150 people there to eat. I have the ability to do all the cooking on-site all at once so there is no issue with having to cook anything in advance and rewarm it on-site.
I wanted to get some input on the quantities I am planning on for the event from some of you that are much more experienced in doing these types of events.
Current plan is:
Pulled pork - 140 lbs precook weight
Baked beans - 2 full trays (thinking 6 #10 cans)
Cole Slaw - 30 lbs prepared
Cold veggie salad (something like Texas Caviar) - not sure how much but a bunch
Dessert option of Watermelon or Brownies
I will be setting this up as a serve yourself buffet.
When I look at the quantity of pork it seems like too much but when I have cooked for church events in the past I have been amazed at how much people have eaten.
Any input would be appreciated.
