View Full Version : Hello from Noo Yawk City

Hello, Brethren...after lurking for long, long time, I decided to jump in the water.

I'm another NYC q'er and blogger. I've been corresponding w/ Robert (BrooklynQ) and cheering on the Brethren. I've learned alot from reading all your posts, and hope to put it all to good use when I get my BYC from Klose in a few weeks....and to be able to give something back to you all, too. I've been cooking on a Char-griller Smokin' Pro for the last few years after turning my ECB into a spider web collector.

Keep the coals glowing.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I appreciate the offer to break in the Klose for me-- that's awful generous of you, JT. Where should I have it delivered-- oh, and you'll take care of the payments, right? :P

Welcome Matt....Where are you located?

09-12-2005, 08:04 PM
hi, welcome. cool blog dude!

09-12-2005, 08:16 PM
Bill, I promised my man, Hiroshi, I wouldn't sell him out on that story, but I can tell you that rain, alot of Yuengling and smoke that wasn't just from the firebox had something to do with it. That's all I can say.

Smoker, I live in Queens, but spend alot of time out on the east end of long island in suffolk. Where on the island are you?

C'mon, you guys are gonna have to decide where I'm coming to visit my pit-- or howabout you pay for it, I'll break it in, and you can have visiting and eating rights. Deal?

09-12-2005, 08:23 PM

I'm in Lindenhurst. Are you gonna put the Klose in queens?

09-12-2005, 08:34 PM
Unfortunately not, Steve. It's going out to my folks place until my wife and I find a place with a yard. The situation sux. BTW-- that avatar rocks!

09-12-2005, 08:39 PM
You can put it brooklyn Matt. It's a lot closer then heading out to the hamptons every weekend.

09-12-2005, 08:41 PM
I found the avatar online and knew it would be perfect. You know.....Lindenhurst is much closer than the hamptons so if you want to leave the Klose here I guess I can live with it. I'm putting up a new 6 foot fence next week so no one will see it. It will sit right next to my new Chargriller which I should be picking up next week also. Rob (Brooklyn) and I will make sure it gets good and seasoned. With these gas prices it sure beats driving out to the Hamptons. I would be saving you money!!!!

How do u like the Dinosaur Barbeque sauces. I'm ordering some of the stuff tonight.

09-12-2005, 09:27 PM
Welcome brother Matt. Going from a Char. to a BYC. Dude, welcome to the big leagues. I am jealous. You will love the 1/4 steel. Go easy on the fire, it does not take much to keep that bad boy hot.

09-13-2005, 09:32 AM
Steve, I really liked the Roasted Garlic and Honey sauce. I doctor just about everything that I use, though, and iirc, I used that one in some baked beans and added more cider vinegar and some hot sauce. Their other sauces are good, but don't blow me away. The Cajun Foreplay rub was nice on brisket, too.

09-13-2005, 09:47 AM
Another man who likes Yuengling, well alright then. Q and Yuengling is a good day in the making

09-13-2005, 10:02 AM
I don't think they make briskets that will fit in the Klose I can afford - unless you're carving off one bite at a time!

Waiting to hear the story behind the avatar.

09-13-2005, 02:21 PM
