Anybody have any suggestions for some good BBQ restaurants in the Dallas, TX area? I'm headed there in August for a few days.

You're going to LOVE Dallas in August. :heh:

Dallas is NOT known for great BBQ. A lot of people like North Main BBQ in Euless. We had a Brethren lunch there last year, and it was pretty good.

Do NOT let anyone talk you into Sonny Bryan's. Shoe leather beef, greasy sides and nasty sauce -- but they bribe a lot of TV personalities, it seems.

I always tell BBQ Brethren coming to Dallas to go TexMex instead, as we have some excellent TexMex here.

Do you know where you will be staying?

I grabbed a brisket sandwich from Red Barn in Colleyville (A little west of DFW airport) not long ago and was VERY surprised. Great flavor, moist, tender, but not overcooked. If I hadn't been pressed for time I'd have gone back for a plate of sliced.

Huge difference in comparison to my last visit when the brisket was dry and the pork just wasn't quite there. I don't know how consistent they are but they nailed it that day and earned another visit from me.

CaseyDog is on point. Just curious, has anyone checked out Pecan Lodge at the Farmers Market? I hear they smoke Wagyu brisket.

Thanks for the suggestions/warnings.

Not looking forward to being there in August, that's for sure. I lived there over 15 years ago but haven't been back to the Dallas area in almost as long. I'm headed down there with my brother for a bodybuilding competition he's competing in (he'll be starving himself and I plan on enjoying myself) - I believe the hotel for the event is in Mesquite.

Haven't been to Pecan Lodge but the Dallas Morning Snooze had this link about it:
