Blues Hog is played out and judges are tired of it. It was on BOTH of my 180's today. For what it's worth............Keep it up Bill!

Congratulations!

Was it 'strictly' 'pure' Blues Hog?

wow!!! 2 180's in the same day, nice cook man!!! congrats!

i think BH is just too tasty to ever really go out of favor, but as you alluded to above the key is what you mix with it for each meat you use it on.

again, congrats, that has to be one rare feat!

You don't need to mix it with anything. I've won a lot using it straight out of the bottle.

Congratulations on a stellar day!! We're still working for that first 180, let alone two at once!!!

The best sauce in the world won't save a badly cooked piece of meat, but it surely will be rewarded on a meat that's cooked to perfection. Well done!

Jeff congrats on this accomplishment! In the 5 years I have been cooking I have never seen 1 team get 2 perfect scores in one contest! Has anyone seen this happen? Not trying to hijack your thread I just think this is a very rare feat! Kudo's to you brother!

Agreed. I used it "straight" all last year on pork. 13th TOY. Any questions? It's good stuff.

I believe there are a lot of seasoned judges out there who have got to be tired of BH.. But there's a ton of new judges who are just now experiencing BH.

FWIW, my 180 last weekend had no BH on it. Ya still got to do a hell of a job (and a little luck) regardless of what sauce you use. Congrats you guys!

Love Blues Hog, but what is amazing to me, is you got 2 180 scores and finished 4th overall. That had to be one tough field.

It was pretty strong, although my ribs were a little weak at 165. I was 695 and 700 won it.

Congrats on the scores. I see Blues Hog is a sponsor, is there anywhere in Washington one can purchase it. I buy original in Union, but wife loves Smokey Mountain. Sorry for diverting the topic.

Not to steal the thread here... but I'm gonna steal the thread...

I just got in some Blues Hog original and Tennessee Red... never tried it before...

I did notice that most people mix them 50/50... do you guys mix it 50/50 for comps or do you go sweeter on comps like 75/25? thanks for the help...

while jeff's response is quite humorous, the fact of the matter is, it is also quite true.

what we add to blues hog dovetails with what we rub with, inject with, wood used, etc, etc.
without giving out all those details, what works for us may not work for you.

thus, the countless dollars and time spent experimenting and concocting ones own formulas and i don't think anyone is going to give it ALL out, at least not for free. :becky:

i WILL tell you this though...everything i mix BH with is either brethren made or sold.

and(contrary to what i said above) somewhere, someplace, sometime ago, i think i posted everything i use on our forum.
