I'm going to Houston for one day and I'm hoping to eat some good Q for either lunch or dinner. Any recommendations? If so, where should I go and what should I order? I'm figuring brisket will be the predominant cut of meat, but feel free to give your suggestions. Thanks!

What part of town will you be in? Houston is pretty spread-out.

Staying near Houston Hobby and then going north on Eastex Freeway about 1/2 way between N. Loop and Sam Houston Parkway. Then over to Jersey Village area mid-afternoon. Late afternoon back toward downtown and the airport. Anything in those areas or close to, since my time will be fairly limited? Thanks.

Not familiar with any place you'll be traveling; I'm near The Woodlands and could give you a little guidance if you were in that area. I did some Googling and you may try this 529 place it isn't too far from Jersey Village.
FWIW...I think the Pappas places are over rated, whether it BBQ, Mexican, Cajun or their fish place Pappa's.

Nothing wrong with Goode Co. BBQ!

This should help you. I know the guy who created it and he knows his BBQ.

A lot of people swear by Pizzitola's...1703 Shepherd Dr., Houston, 77007. It's a little hole-in-the-wall type place in the Heights...been in business since 1935.

Thanks folks. Hope to check one of the places out. Will post review afterwards.

Don't know if it too late, but if you are staying near Hobby you might check out Central Texas BBQ. Its in a place that you will never stumble upon, but easy to find if you know where it is. To get there... from the Hobby Hilton, go to the Jack-in-the-Box across the street, CTBBQ is directly behind the JitB. Haven't been there for years, but it used to be some of the best, hope it still is...

I've heard good things about Broussards. I plan to stop there when I get to Houston on Wednesday.

Bigmista, add Rudy's to your list if you are near there. I went this evening and was pleased with the quality of the brisket. the prices were fair too
