50 bucks for basic electricity seems a little steep...

Looks like my schedule is not going to let me do this contest this year. I hope they work the bugs out and it has staying power. Be nice to have an early spring KCBS contest in the area

So it says "bring at least 20 pounds"

The way this is worded, I can cook the Pork at home...
Bring it in a cambro
And turn it in...

and only have to pay $50 for a chance to win $1000

No load in and out?

I thought the same thing. But that makes the contest 250 which seems pretty normal up here. But that is weird.

I signed up today, 275.00 for KCBS, People's Choice, and Electricity (25.00 discount for doing both). They are sharing the comp site with the Chili peeps, so the teams can't get in until the Chili peeps are out. I suppose you can cook chili to get in earlier. Love the idea of having an earlier comp in this area.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a huge gap in the GC and RGC prize money? Not to mention it's being held the same weekend as Pork in the Park?

don't think so. it's also capped at 20 contestants as far as i can tell, if you're asking because of jack qualifier requirements.

first year only needs 15 for qualifier if they have proclamation

chris did you sign up for PC chili or ICA chili?

i'm not an ICA member, but thought getting in early with the PC was a good idea.

Sent in an app today...seems like a nice small KCBS close to home to get my feet wet this year. Considering the chili to get in early as well. Think the PC chili can be made beforehand?

seems very rushed this event but im tempted to pull the trigger, only 20 contestants good odds and close to home also a bonus

ok on second thought i may just go and be spectator, unless anyone needs a pit monkey....hint hint, lol

i'm just going to bring 2 gallons of chili as an "early entry fee" and have some fun with it. it's free, why not?

Both people choice chili and people's choice pork can be brought in cooked beforehand. Detail will be out soon on times etc.
