I saw it on the BOD agenda a few days ago, I have scoured the web high and low, and the only thing I can find out about it is from the KCBS notes...

Dick thing to say when I'm not getting a dime, I made the suggestion to Joe and Ryan to put on a class in the northeast .and helped scout a location and help a little with logistics and that's it. I Am attending the class like everybody else. My intent was with all the classes around the country, none are around here . It was for myself as well as all others around here to save all the travel expenses of flying and getting a hotel out of State to a class. Know your facts buddy before you post them. thanks

Has nothing to do with an island, has everything to do with planning and consideration. I just don't understand why an organizer cannot provide any information about a contest at least 90 prior to the contest.

How is someone supposed to find out anything about this contest? It's been approved by KCBS assigned reps and the only information available to the public is through you and is "wait, its coming". Its BS. In the time it took to get KCBS approval they couldn't put together a page for the contest on their website? There is a name for these comps, Shake N Bake.....

I applaud Sled if he was able to make this happen and get something in return for his efforts afterall when a contest happens the reps get paid. As stated, net savings of hotel, airfare etc. Thanks Sled!

Thank you northeast BBQ contest sherriff. First I have nothing to do with this contest other than interest to compete at it. I am not profiting from it , I mean jeeeez that would be so tacky. Tha being said, they went thru the proper channels. They decided to do a contest and have it sanctioned. The rule is they need to submit to kcbs 90 days before for approval. They did just that. At the end of december it was posted on kcbs with the date and listed as "tentative" so the date and location were given. They were waiting approval before releasing the forms. If they they were denied for conflict etc what good would applications and payment do other cause another thread on here bitching about it. The information I have posted is from emails and phone cAlls to Liz. She responds immediately and is very pleasant to deal with. They have been doing a very successful chili contest and decided to branch out and add BBQ. I was on the opposite side of the fence with the Bethpage long island contest last year because it was going to have no sanctioning body in place, the organizer never responded to any contact etc. That is what I would consider a "shake n bake"

I see that you as well as many others , myself included signed up for SAMs club series. How many questions were posted about the dates etc with very little actual confirmation until right before registration . I don't want to hear that you signed u for an event later this summer. Tampa was right around the corner and less than 90 days before actual confirmation. Why is that not shake n bake?

I am on my DROID so I don't have the luxury of typing a long diatribe so I will make this simple and blunt.

Neither this thread or this forum will be used again to crush a contest the way it did to Bethpage last year or slander contest that were legitimate and run within the rules and guidelines of any official circuit or qualifiers. Conjecture and assumptions of why an organizers does or does not do something is not fact and we will ONLY allow factual information to remain.

This forum is instrumental in the success of many contests and unfortunately, in several cases has proven it can be just as instrumental in its destruction Questioning the integrity of a contest or organizer based solely on speculation, assumptions or just feel like pissing in cheerios will not be tolerated and the posts will be removed.

Now here is my disclaimer; I am in no way trying to crush, slander or do anything else to this contest even if it is being held on an island. Nor am i implying that Sled is in anyway associated with/taking part in/ profiting from it, i have no idea. I am not doubting or questioning anyone's integrity

My gripe is that the only information available about this contest at this time, approx., what 75 days out, limited to the little bit that you seem to have and there is not an easily accessible place for interested teams to find out things like Boogie just pointed out so that they may make an educated desicion about where they want to compete.

When I use the term Shake N Bake, I'm referring to it being an instant or short notice kind of thing, nothing else. Since i believe I'm credited with coining the phrase, that's all I mean, nothing more, nothing less. If it is being seen as perjoritive and that is what is causing the the problem, I apologize I will not use the term again.

Hmmm, i'll check that out, I'm also signed up for myron mixon's class in June, looking to gather as much knowledge as possible.

The great thing about SI, I live there (when not causing trouble in S Florida) so it's not much expense or time, heck my tailgate trailer is sitting in the driveway right now ready to go, lol. I'll see how I progress in the other areas between now and then, I think i'll be decent enough in ribs and pork by then at the least.
