Are the peoples choice ribs donated?
What is set up time for competitors? Night before or day of and when would meat be inspected?
Does the hamburger category allow a bun?
Pork ribs for judging?

Peoples choice we supply 1 1/2 - 2 cases of ribs per team
You can supply your own pork ribs for the judged portion
As far as the chicken and beef categories its chefs choice. You wanna do filet mignon!?Do it !!! Or your an do a good all american burger. Same goes for the chicken category wings thigh breast

Gates will open at 7 pm the night before for guys that want to setup Saturday evening. We will have security there so no problem with that. Day of event gate will open at 4 am like last year with captains meeting and rib distribution at 6 am.
I will have to check with Nassau county board of health about the inspection

What are the restrictions on smokers? Propane allowed, or wood/charcoal fuels only?

Sorry for the delayed response. The event is in a Nassau county park so we need to be good guests and play by their rules. Wood and charcoal BBQ grills are ok. Small Green Coleman bottles are ok as are butane burners and white fuel. Basically they don't want a 20 lb propane tank floating around. Any further questions about fuel please PM me

The judged portion has pork ribs, chefs choice chicken and chefs choice beef. A teams points will added up and prizes will be awarded 1-5th as well as trophies.
The prizes for people's choice are the same as the judged event

I notice the rain date on the web site. Is that for the car show or for both. Most of us are not used to rescheduling due to weather. Should we not sign up if we can't make the rain date. Or can we get a refund.

Any word on turn in times or peoples choice yet? Is there going to be a garnish? Can the chicken be trimmed ( Not Marinated) before? I just did a case of ribs on labor day and there were 16 racks in the case.

If one uses a stuffing, can it be a meat not of the category, such as a sausage stuffing or bacon? so long as the primary meat can be judged?
(yeah, I waited to the last minute to get organized for this event. I have my fingers crossed that I have rub in the pantry)

We had a good time at this contest. Just did ribs and peoples choice. Not so happy with how our rib box came out but that's how it goes sometimes (7 spares in a 9x9, c'mon). Glad to see and talk to friends and meet some new ones. Nice to see the Polacks too. Happy for our neighbors The Que-Rate Kids. Really good guys. Congrats to Babylon Grillbillies (while training a new team member), Blazin' Butts and all who heard their name called. Next year we gotta cook more ribs. Matt

Fun event, job well done by Sal and his crew. Thanks to the Bethpage FD (Charlie) for helping out a shorthanded neighbor, I would have missed the turn ins and never been able to handle the peoples choice- true brethren's ya are.
I should have known better that my teammate (Todd, you might recall from manorville) would not be home at 5am on Sunday.

Well, I guess we can forget about those scores. Its been 3 weeks and still nothing. It would have been nice to see were we placed in all the catagories. I hope the person that is missing the prize got in touch with him at least.
