I found a deal at an Ace Hardware Store in Chicago on a brand new WSM for $139, so I grabbed it. I haven't even opened the box yet, but I learned quite a bit about using it at the Shannon competition from Greg and Bob. I'm going to read through the old posts and the WSM site, but does anyone have any specific advice, mods, etc.?

I am going to break it in this coming weekend...

Damn my brother just bought one from amazon for about $200. You snagged a great deal. He wants me to do the mods when it gets in.

Besides the waterpan upgrade, what mods does a WSM require?

That's about it unless you want to put handles on the barrel and permanently mount an analog thermometer or put a tube in the lid or barrel for your digital.
