Well it is offical, we are doing two contest in one weekend.

Hey Roy, sounds similar to last year with KCBS and NCPC "whole hog" competition. Are you doing the NCPC again this year or like the rumors I've heard are you doing MBN or different totally? Looks like you are using KCBS judges for the "whole hog" blind box judging. Just wondering. THANKS!

Hey Tom,

This will be two KCBS events one Friday/Saturday and one Saturday/Sunday
We are still doing the whole hog but it will be a blind box only as in previous years along with a pettiest pig. All of the judging will be with KCBS judges. I am looking for judges that can judge both but am filling in with those that are flexible or have judged in the past here.

This is the first event like this on the East Coast, there have been several on the West Coast and Arizona.

Cooks will have lots of opportunities for money and points that weekend in Edenton.

Roy, Has a prize schedule been announced yet for Hog fest? I looked on the website but saw it was blank.

We're looking at heading east or west that weekend and trying to finalize our schedule asap. It's an extremely interesting contest no doubt!

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Time for an update on where we are with Hogfest. The March 1st deadline for the Early, Early bird is next week. Don't miss the free money! It should be out on the KCBS website soon so I am going to put it here too. We are one of ten contest involved in a rib challenge sponsored by Smithfield. There will be extra money for the Rib Category. You will have to go to the KCBS website to sign up for that series. Teams that are signed up for Hogfest will get another reminder with all the info from me as well.

Also have had a couple of folks a little confused about the sign up for Hogfest. We have two KCBS contest on the same weekend here. That is the "Dual" event we are talking about. We also have a whole hog contest for Saturday. That is an extra categories. There is also a sign up for doing just one contest and that is for the Friday/Saturday event but there are no discounts for just one event. Right now for a extra hundred over what a single contest cost you can cook the second contest. Value added:clap:

Look forward to seeing all of you here!!

It is going to be the Friday/Saturday contest, I tried to get them to let me use both days and take the top 3 scores from both contest but they wouldnt let me.

Don't forget there are two more days left on the Early, Early, Bird discount for cooking both contest. Don't miss it!!

Isn't there a contest in Lexington offering more money and less entry fees?

Don't know but Edenton is the only one I'm aware of where you can do two comps without moving in the East :clap2::clap2::clap2: Pay early and you get a great entry price for 10K (both days). The water and electric is great as well as the comp.

Went to Lexington last year. Although it was a first year comp it was ok. Although the majority did, we did not have water or power. We are self contained but would rather not run the generator.

I think you will find that our entry fee with the early bird is less when doing both contest and we have a total of 20K for the two contest in addtion to additional rib money on the saturday contest. If you do one contest your entry fee would be the same as lexington and our payout on Saturday is more than Lexington.

And you have the chance to cook two contest and get double the points in a weekend.

Just saying:mrgreen:
