Thanks to everyone who supported me, Dave, George and Steve! The ticket thing worked and all four of us were elected! Now comes the work of increasing transparency, eliminating micromanaging, working on improving the rules and making KCBS a better organization! Time to get down to business! :boxing:

Great election folks! I can't say all my votes were for the winners but I can tell you one thing if these guys that were elected don't come through on their promises and hold true to thier big Obama style change platforms I will be disappointed that I wasted my votes. I am ready to see Steve, Jeff, and George go in and rattle cages, and get this newly formed corporation on track. We heard ya talk the talk, now walk the walk!:heh:

I appreciate the support, and kind words. I can't thank Jeff, Steve, and Dave enough for their willingness to give this a shot and without them I would not have tried this. This whole thing died a quiet death at least once when one or the other of us decided that we just weren't prepared to do it.

As Jeff stated, the work begins now. We don't agree on EVERY issue, and even when we do we are are 4 of the 12 seats on the board. All I ask is that the membership communicates their wishes, and follows the process.

would it be fair to guess that as membership grows possibly with new judges at the fastest rate it's possible that % of voters will continue to be light or go down ? (last year was 18.5%) ?

I believe your theory is correct. CBJs make up a large amount of the membership and unfortunately haven't had a dog in the fight like the one they had in Dave Compton this year and still barely 17% of all members moved thier mouse, keyed in a few characters, and clicked thier mouse five more times. Judges had a great chance to add to Dave's victory and just couldn't get the job done. Now I see why judges won't fill out comment cards. I just don't get it.

Thanx to everyone who made this happen! Now our work really begins and I'm going to ask for your help again. All four of us would like to see more member involvement on the BoD by having knowledgeable people step forward and volunteer to serve on the various committees.
We feel that the KCBS BoD should manage, not micro-manage, the committees. The BoD should say "This is what we want to accomplish, give us two or three ways to meet these goals and the pros/cons of each." Then the BoD can examine the findings and vote for the best way to do it.
If it's the rules committee there should be a mix of organizers, Reps, cooks & judges. If it's the Technology committee there should be some folks who really understand what tech issues are all about. And so forth & so on.
It's your KCBS - lets all work towards making it a better place :thumb:.

Jeff, PLEASE work to get one of you guys as president.

I can't speak for Jeff, Dave, or Steve but I don't want the job. During my first year on the board I'll have a steep learning curve. I've made it no secret that I believe KCBS should be run more like a business as well as become more transparent and responsive to membership. I've essentially got three weeks to become familiar with past financials, current issues for the next meeting, as well as a planning session. I'll do my due diligence, and focus on the issues first.

Beyond that, I believe that Candy has made the effort to communicate with membership and that the board has shown progress in the past year. My goal and desire is to work with existing members of the board, and not walk in from day one expecting to run things. I was elected to represent the membership, and do the best job possible for them. I'll learn the job and culture first, before I'm willing to even consider taking on the responsibility of serving as President.

Todd, that's one of the points that I ran on & I will do my best to make this happen. I think that the four of us are in agreement on this but we have to round up some more votes, after all there's 12 BoD members.

If you're relatively new to KCBS, its very difficult to know who to vote for. I read all the info in the Bull Sheet and quite frankly didn't see a lot of differentiation. Rather than make a mistake, I sat on the sidelines and let those in the know do the voting.

BTW, this is typical for most organizations. 17% is not that unusual. I hope that next year I will be better informed!:)

Congratulations! I am proud to think that my votes may yet contribute to a watershed of change in KCBS. I look to you to provide thoughtful, reasoned, fair governance; to ensure that procedures in place are applied consistently; and to continue to keep your feet (and sometimes ears) to the ground. The wheels turn slowly, but turn they will. Our support doesn't end at voting, let us know how we can help.

Hey ya'll, I've followed ya'lls posts on here and a few other forums and I just wanted to offer a sincere congrats.

For the last few years I have felt the leadership could care less about the little people, and more about advancing their own agenda. I'm glad we elected people who care and relate to the membership as a whole vs. the top 2%. I hope I get to a contest ya'll are at to shake your hand and say thanks in person.

There's never been a formal process that I know of. A full list of committee members has never been made public in recent years that I recall.

Sans a formal, public committee staffing process, I'd suggest you see next month who the committee chairs are (only BOD chairs are ever communicated) and send an email to the chair of the committee you are interested in serving on.
