Nice. We like to think of ourselves as helping all teams by lowering the judges expectations and squarley dominating the bottom 5 places in each contest, that way there's plenty of room at the top for everyone else.

Beef and they are working on other prizes.

The entry does seem pretty steep, but they are providing everything from ingredients to grills.

What's the difference if I spend my $250 on my own meat and grills or they spend my money with regard to prizes? I'm still spending my own money with no chance of recouping any of it.

motoeric
01-20-2012, 12:33 AM
I agree.

I'm not sure that we would be interested if they don't come up with other prizes that would compensate for the lack of a cash payout.

We'll see.

Have your daughter cook farmingdale. She seeemed very enthusiastic about this whole bbq thing at the maples last year. And don't you only hand out beer glasses the whole time. Which I need another one, kids broke it. I loved that glass. Made me think of bbq contests when drinking from it.

Saturday 4/21 is the The New York City Chili Cookoff. We have both cooked in the event and vended it. Great location with good crowds. Last year, even in the rain it was packed.

The Hicksville Fire Dept. event will be held on Sept. 23.

They'll be starting a thread here soon. It looks as though it will be a one day grilling event running concurrently to the buck-a-bone People's Choice Rib Cook-Off.

I'm meeting w/ Eileen at Farmingdale again next week and I hope that there will be sign-ups and full information available soon after that meeting.

The Hicksville FD event seems to be progressing well. The site looks great with an improved venue and much better parking for attendees. They have their website in beta now and hopefully that will be up with details and signups soon.

The folks from the Kosher BBQ Contest were also at WilliePallooza and their event is shaping up to be a lot of fun as well. They are bringing in Linda Mullane to run things for them, so it will be a smooth, well coordinated event. I know that they are still accepting sign ups.
