View Full Version : Has anybody ever used Almondwood?

Has anybody tried using almond wood? They sell it in grocery stores near my house and it says it's a hardwood used for firewood. I am always jealous of you guys with those awesome wood piles, here in CA we don't get much of that. I was gonna try it as long as nobody says it's lethal or something.

Almond is all ovr up here. I have used it a ton. It has a mild smoke relative to oak or hickory.

If you are looking for decent hickory or oak, I can point you toward a couple places in Pasadena and another in Hawthorne that I used to patronize before moving up here.

I bought a load. I've been whacking the bark off. The bark seems sorta nasty. I'm happy with the wood though. Not a lot of ash from it.

I would be interested in a place in Pasadena. I found a place in Chatsworth that sells firewood but nothing that would be good for smoking.

The place in Pasadena is right off the 210 at Madre, Madre and California I believe, Maybe Bignofo will chime in, that's his part of town.
