View Full Version : Time to Shop. Bash V NY.

BBQchef33
06-19-2005, 03:46 PM
time to shop guys. Going to start tomorrow. Unfortunately there will be no meat at the bash. There is no room to store it the fridges unless i removes some of the pickles.

:D

Aside form the normal stuff, ribs, briskets, butts, chix, chusks for Chile and a prime rib, sausages, and a couple fatties. Is there anything someone would like me to get?

is there any hard liquor requirments besides JD, Rum, tequilla, Vodka, tequilla and tequilla?

Beers will be Becks and Corona unless someone tells me otherwise. I dont drink it, so if the beer drinkers have a preference let me know.

gonna start in the AM, so let me know soon.

Also, what time is everyone leaving on Sunday? I've got a truly lame 7 a.m. Sunday departure (my son bought the ticket - I think he thinks he's funny!) - anyone else got an early one? If not, I may just dump that return flight and buy one for later in the day.

Webcam will be going!!! If anyone else has one bring it, we can set up a few web stations.

We do the webcam with yahoo messenger. May try Microsoft Netmeeting this year to.

Anyone who wants to be in on the webcam, make sure messenger is loaded.

For updates and info during the bash, keep and eye on this forum.

rubs..

only rubs i got are the ones i mix from scratch, a gallon of head country and all of the Klose rubs. If anyone has and extra Blues Hog, bring it... or anything else ya want or think is worth cookin with, bring a sample.

Todays shoppin spree netted 4 briskets, 2 of them are 16-17 lbrs other 2 are 14's, 4-8lb boneless butts, 10 lb sausages, 10 lbs bulk sausage for armadillo eggs, 15lbs dinosaur bones(beef ribs), 15 lbs jalepeno, 15 lbs cream cheese, a block of colby jack(cheese bread), anaheim(sp) and poplano peppers, 6 lbs ground beef and 10 lbs chuck roasts and all the other fixings for chile, case of pineapples and mangos. Tomorrow is the ribs and chicken runs and the hunt for fatties which are a commodity around here.

cant forget couple cases of smirnoff ice, twisted teas, rolling rock, becks, coronas, couldnt find Bass, will get them tromorrow.

this week is graduation week for both kids, so doing this between events and ceremonies. by the time friday gets here, you guys are doing the cooking cause i'll be glued to a chair. :?

Do some quick monkey math on this:

64# Brisket
32# Butts
20# Sausage
15# Beef Ribs
30# Cream Cheese / Japs
6# Ground Beef
10# Chuck
15# Bacon (Guess) (Mary forgot this)
30# BBs (Guess)
16# Chicken (Guess)
8# Fatties (Guess)
God knows what else besides mangos, pineapples, eggs, wings, cheese bread, peanuts, etc. - so call that another 25 #

Ok - so about 260# of chit for monkey math

40% shinkage gives ya 150# conservatively.

If you have 25 people there constantly they only get to eat 6#'s food between Friday night and sunday morning - you're gonna run out Mary. Buy more!!

We need bacon.

Come to think about it.. 260lbs is about average for bashes here.

My neighbor is having a graduation party on Sunday. I committed to cookig some ribs and briskets for them in the winter before we knew what the dates were, and it happened to match up with the bash. they want 8-12 racks of ribs, a butt and a brisket, so add that in too. We will have over 300lbs. :) I'm hopin we are going to fire up MOAB, The BYC, The Bandera and the Hondo all at once, with the 2 WSM's covering briskets and butts. Be a bash record to have 6 cookers going at once.

And dont forget, Friday night is an 18lb prime Rib and Cheese bread.

U sure u dont wanna be here?

12 racks babybacks
6 racks spares
10lbs thighs
10lbs wings
10lbs bacon
10 lbs breakfast sausage links
8 fatties
8 lbs scallops
another 5lbs of sausage(i found differnet kinds).
12 lbs chuck roasts
6 cans biscuit dough.

and a 20 farkin lb prime rib roast

Spent the day moving MOAB of the deck and into the pit. 900+ lbs aint easy to roll on wet grass. Once it sunk in, i was screwed. And in the great mood i was in when that happened, my pleasent daughter comes out and says, "Gee dad, maybe you should wait till tomorrow when you got some guys here."... i think she got the hint right after the first growl. But MOAB is tucked away safe and sound.

No NT Hole...my wife scheduled her floatie thingy for this weekend again. I was gonna try and make it on short notice surprise till that happened.

Sucks...cooking a butt for it now though at least, so I'll be qing in some form.

Will try and make the midwest bash but Sept. is tight. Traveling now again for work.

Buy at least one bud light and drink it for me!

And don't forget to make all the virgins shotgun that warm Shaeffers!

Bill, you need to load up on some fiber pior to a bash. All that protein with nothing else will constipate you like crazy. I call it Adkins' "dirty little secret."

Cheesy bread, and I forgot to mention half a loaf of buttered italian bread.

And constipation has never been a problem for me at a bash.

Cork and spigot mod.

Funny thing, Bash I, I came home and wife was pissed. I got on the scale, down 4 pounds

Good god...working on expanding your stomach just to hold more this weekend!?!?

Glad to see your avoiding anything remotely healthy. Make sure you don't accidentally get a fruit or vegetable!

People crapping at a bash is never a problem. The booze keeps everyone flowing!

I think that is more a residual effect from all the peanuts.

I have looking for, but not finding Nupricanal. Maybe Chad and I can have a trading post where he sends me some Nupricanal and I will send him some Cooling Gel.

How about "SweeTea"?

About a month ago, I was at applebee's, friday's, whatever, one of those farkers in Detroit. I was with 2 of our project managers that were trying to get our project off of the ground. I asked for iced tea. THe guy next to me asked for iced tea. The third guy says, "do you have sweet tea?". The waitress paused and said, "this is Michigan".

Sweet tea is used for settling the dirt that we bury the spam and mustard in. Just pour it over the loose dirt and it trickles through, helping to seal the scar of the earth that was just violated with spam.

Sure am glad y'all don't like SweeTea.
Helps to keep the price of sugar down for the rest of us

I was in Maine (York beach) for vacation several years ago and had the same problem, went out to eat at a nice steak restaurant and asked for sweet tea and the waitress thought I was from another planet.

Hope everyone made it home in good shape? Clearly a larger shape if I were to guess?

Though I am relitivly new to true Q`ing (1+ year), I can attest to a magnificant job done by Phil and his better half Sharon. All the eats were just increadable (nothing better to me than hands on observations). Sweet set up of smokers and coolers for any taste craving! Great to meet some of the 'Bretheren', and hope to do it again. Those that missed it, certainly, well, missed it.
