Myself and eleven of my friends are going to be taking a golf trip down to the Pinehurst NC area in late March and I'd love to stop at a few BBQ joints on the way. We will be driving down from WV on I77, I74 and I73. Anyone have any suggestions for places close to the interstate or relatively close that would a great place to eat?

Thanks!

Here are a couple suggestions (in North Carolina) that I hope might help...

Exit 114 off of I-74 (US52) in North Carolina just north of Winston-Salem:

Hill's Lexington Barbecue Inc
4005 N Patterson Ave,
Winston-Salem, NC
(336) 767-2184

You will be heading around High Point and I highly recommend the following two Q-joints:

Fat Cats Pork N Beans BBQ
411 West Fairfield Road,
High Point, NC
(336) 431-8978

BBQ Joe's Country Cooking
2822 South Main Street,
High Point, NC
(336) 434-4355

There are a whole pile of Q-joints around Randleman and Asheboro, but they just aren’t that good.

Southern Pines is just a short way east of Pinehurst and even though Smithfield’s is a chain it is still really pretty good.

Smithfield’s Chicken & Barbecue
1565 US Highway 1 S,
Southern Pines, NC
(910) 693-1200

GOOD LUCK and I hope you enjoy your trip and find some good barbecue somewhere!
