View Full Version : Morrells are out!
A friend brought me over a pound or two of Morrell mushrooms yesterday so I sautee'd em up in butter through some hot Italian sausage on the weber and tossed them with some pene mostacioli. A little parmesian and romano ane whala! Deliscioso. Sure beat the hell out of going over to the Elks club for a pre-race spaghetti dinner. Running a 5K this morning. If I never post again it will be because I had a big grabber and joined Elizabeth and Fred!!! (Sanford mod)

Yes there were, lots of them. Well not actually Q joints but plenty of Qing was going on with some pretty big rigs along the route once we crossed over the river into Benton Harbor. Finished the 5K (3.1 miles) in a blistering lightning pace at 39:25. My goal was under 40. Actually I just wanted to finish before the parade started. The event is held every year as part of our Blossomtime Festival. This area is the heart of Michigan's
Fruit Belt and home to the worlds largest fruit market. The aroma of sweet blue filled the air as soon as we got into Benton Harbor as many Qers were set up to sell their ribs and chicken to parade goers.

did you eat a rack of ribs along the route?
did you eat a rack of ribs along the route?
I can see where you might think that with a time of 39:25 espescially when the winning time was 18:--! But for a 275# 50 year old I just wanted to cross the finish line on my feet and not in the ambulance. The ambulance did pass me at the 2.5 mile mark and there were a few people who had finished 10-15 minutes before me were afraid that I was the passenger. They said they were relieved when they finally saw me trudging around the final bend heading for home. Good thing my wife wasn't there she would have freaked with all my friends having finished already and then seeing that ambulance with its lights on!!

Good job, Neil! What's important is that you finished!

Great job Neil, I don't have the guts to do one of those, I will walk 3 mile on my treadmill when I am in a good mood. (Moods have not been that great lately)
