This is a first time contest, and they are looking for teams. These guys have put a lot of work into this contest, and I think it'll will be a great contest.
They are guaranteeing $5000, and have a whole lot going on. They are having a throw down on Friday night, a pie contest, 2 or 3 bands, a pumpkin festival, and a whole lot more.
They only need 15 teams to make it a qualifier.
If you don't have anything going on, come on out and support this contest.
Here are a couple links, check it out.

Sent an e-mail to the Centralia chamber of commerce contact asking how many teams they have signed up so far. Got a reply stating that they have six teams and several verbal commitments. They only need 15 to make it a qualifier since it is a first year KCBS sanctioned contest. Looks like we may be in for this one. After visiting their website, looks like a good contest and a lot of fun!

We picked up a free entry for this competition at the KCBS banquet in January and we're signed up. But, it's a long drive for us. I'd rather not get down there and find out that it is not a qualifier, so some of you guys better step up :-D I'll have the big coffee pot going on Saturday morning and bags of coffee available. THAT alone is work coming! :becky:

Exactly what Ron is saying.......teams need to "step up" and "sign up" to help this contest make it a qualifier! First year contest (KCBS), we can make a good showing this year so they will want to do it next year! Ron, your coffee will be a welcome commodity come Saturday morning, cant wait to try it! :-D

This has the potential to be a really great repetative contest. They just need to have a good turn out the first year to give the incentive to do it again.
Please contact everyone you know, and see if we can get some teams down here to support them.

Isn't Centralia near Moberly? My dad lives about 6 miles south of Moberly. Could maybe make it a dual purpose trip from ohio

They are about half an hour apart, probably less to your dad's place since Centralia is SE of Moberly. Come on and join the fun!

The Muddy River Boys are gonna make the 8 mile trek into town for this one:wink: should be a good time. Like Jamey said, the folks putting this on have worked really hard to try and have something for everyone. they are trying to get the whole town involved and make it an annual fall festival.

Face book quote as of last Friday:

The BBQ team entries are starting to pile up....can we get 30?:clap2:

I know they have two separate contests, KCBS sanctioned, and a backyard contest. I am guessing this is a combined total goal? Entry going out this week, looking forward to a great time! :thumb:

They are guaranteeing $5000

BTW, the KCBS site says $4,000, not $5,000.

13 is what I heard also. They still need teams, and in order to break even, they need around 25.
If you don't have anything to do, come on down and compete.

We sent in our entry form mid-week so that's one more closer to 15, but I havenít seen any more info on their facebook page about the number of teams. I hope they receive more and make this a yearly contest since itís just up the road from us.

This is only our second comp (Roots n Blues was our first) and look forward to meeting you all.

Looking at the contest website, it seems like they have a lot going on! One question......the entry form states that team check-in starts at noon. The website is saying 9:00 am. Guess we will just pull in somewhere in between? Always like to get there as early as we can.

Dropped our entry in the mail this past Thursday. Our entries would have been received after the last facebook update of 13. They should be a few entries over 15 by now for the KCBS sanctioned contest, I would think. Hope we get some really nice fall weather for the contest weekend. Looking forward to meeting new friends and a great time!

They are still looking for teams.
They really need to get up around 25, to bring in enough money to show the board that it is profitable enough to be an annual event......

Iím not sure what the check-in time starts, maybe someone else thatís registered can answer that. Iíve also noticed that there's a difference in the cookís meeting time between whatís on the website and the registration form. The form says 7:30pm Friday and the website says 3pm.
