Pate Media Group is a great place and they have done a few. You can look them up at patemg.com

I'm sure you'll get several people respond, and there are some pretty good graphic designers on this site, but if you want the info for the guy that did mine. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee510/jrbBBQ/RuralRouteBBQ.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee510/jrbBBQ/RuralRouteBanner.jpg

Nothing against any of the others, and N8Man does nice work as well, but we used Patrick at bbqlogos also, and are very pleased with the result

Same as a few above us, Patrick did ours. However, if your are just getting into cooking you may be wiser spending your money on equipment than a banner. If you want something with your name try buildasign.com. You can make up your own sign and get one pretty cheap. Just sayin'

One of our team members owns a sign shop in omaha, ne., also has a racecar lettering business that ships nationwide...supports bbq I would highly recommend, does all kinds of printing/ cut vynl lettering/ vehicle wraps, etc...it's Action Signs, the racecar lettering is SPEEDWAYGRAPHICS.COM also a kcbs cbj...for what it's worth...(402)731-8596 ask for Stan

While it's not BBQ specific you may want to look into Logo My Way www.logomyway.com You basically create a logo contest with graphic designers all over the globe competing for the prize which is a minimum of $200, but you can make it for more. My wife has used it for the logo of her store and has been very happy with the entire process.

Several teams have recommended BBQlogos.com to us, but we went with a friend of ours who is a graphic designer. He came up with ours (and discounted it, so he's listed as a sponsor.) You can see a lot of his 'for fun' work at http://klowner.com.

If you have community college or university (or high school) nearby, you might contact the graphic design or art department and see if there is a student who would be interested in helping you.

Good community relations and you might make a kid very happy!

We are a new team and if we go down the road of paying to have a logo designed what is the realistic expectation of cost???

I "found" a good portion of mine, and then Wayne from Guerrilla Banners helped make it mine.

T1he name for my competition kind of crystallized from another thread I ran about naming the comp. One poster suggested that I use the initials of our severe weather center here in Norman. Unfortunately the place is the National Severe Storms Lab (NSSL) and I just couldn't find a fit. But it got me thinking and all of sudden the name popped. Smokin' Up A Storm!

I sent Patrick Carlson at http://bbqlogos.com (http://bbqlogos.com/) an e-mail giving him the name and a rough description of what I was looking for in the logo,

The image that came into my mind is ultimately what Patrick was able to create. He sent me a preliminary sketch:

I had a trailer pit in mind and more of a STORM, so I sent him a couple examples I found on the web that reflected what I was looking for and suggested that maybe a pitmaster should be next to the trailer:
First, the PIT

and then the tornado
http://litecylinderoklahoma.com/external/tornado.jpg
He sent me back this sketch:

I liked the whole concept so he sent me some full color samples with the lettering:
http://litecylinderoklahoma.com/external/storm3.jpg

I liked elements of these and after a short phone conversation he sent me the final logo:

Excellent work and easy to work with!

I originally had my logo done with Patrick. It was great and he did come up with a logo we liked. However the logo had 17 colors in it. My own fault. I did not think of the printing and embroidery costs for shirts etc in the future. We then went with 99designs.com on the recommendation of a fellow BBQ team and ran a designer contest. I like this format better you provide as much feedback as possible. http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/simple-clean-bbq-logo-team-company-41473 for the money of one design project we received over 240 designs back and provided ongoing feedback to get what we needed. We also own the copyright on our logo. Just give it a thought for future marketing.

N8man (brethren member) did a GREAT job on ours! Very flexible, easy to work with and very economical for the work involved.
