The original spot in NYC is good for what it is... a tribute to the real Texas Hill Country meat markets to give you the feel of those places without trying to exactly duplicate and at the same time adding their own modern touches. I'd rather be eating BBQ in the real Hill COuntry joints, but if I'm nowhere near, this place is good substitute.

The brisket (and beef in general) has generally been very good to great, you can get Kreuz sausage etc... Sides are OK.. Prices are really high $$$$$$$$

Worth a stop in, if your in the area.

Take a peek at PigTrip's review and pics over the years from the NYC spot.

I haven't been to the DC Hill Country yet. I did find many reviews of it on UrbanSpoon which are a mixed bag. After reading through some of them I would give it a try.

The write-ups look pretty good (the bad things were about the noise and the confusion about how to get food), but it does seem like it might be cheaper to fly to Texas and eat there. I might give it a try if I'm downtown sometime.
