Had a great time meeting Brethren today at SOTW. Met JD and his wife, RythemnQue Big Brother Smoke. They told me Bigmista was pit bitch'n for Myron. Saw Myron sitting by himself so went up to him and said I gotta shake the hand of the legend. We spoke a bit (he never swore once). So I say I'm here to see Bigmista you seen him? :tsk: He was hiding up in his room. Great to meet so many nice people. :thumb:

Roger that. Awards are scheduled for 5/22 from 5:30-7:00. I'm counting on some high quality tomorrow during judging.

I was out there for a while as well tonight. Met some great people I had never met. Wish I did not have a day of meetings tomorrow. I would have loved to judge!

Last night on FB seemed as though the results were posted here before they were announced in Vegas.

Congrats to those that cashed a big check!

They were. I was receiving real-time texts of notable calls from Joe (Tippy) and they weren't even half-way through brisket when the I noticed they were posted on the KCBS website.

Also congrats to everyone who heard their name. A whole lot of cheese out there for 97 teams--hopefully more than a few brethren got their hands on some of it.:-D

With only about $50k received from entry fees, how does this contest offer such a large prize pool? Sponsors? Vegas money? Gate fees? Do they thrown down $50k on black and pray?

It's VEGAS! You paid for it if you went there lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You think some of the competitors didn't spend a little money when they were there? how about the looky-loo's?

The way that every contests should be paying out, raising money from all of those sources rather than hoping that entry fees fund payouts and a donation to whatever charity they are supporting.

Sure we would all like to see big money payouts :becky:. It takes some serious marketing muscle and project management to pull all that together. Smoke on the Water is good at it, but I don't think most local teams and charities that back many events can pull it off.
