I tested my digital thermometer as part of my pre-season check up. I cleaned it well and put it in a glass of ice water and it read 80 degrees. An hour later it read 60 degrees. I decided to buy a new one.
By the time I got back from Lowes' (with TWO of them) my old digital termometer was down to 40.
The ice had fully melted so I put more ice in and tested all three. The two new ones read at 39 and 37, the old one read at 37.
I added salt and all three immediately dropped. The new ones are at 37 and 35 respectively and the old one is at 35.
My question is this - after setting in the garage all year does the response time of digital propes get flat for the first few hours of use? I thought I had one bad thermometer and ended up with three good ones.
Still wondering why it read 80 and 60 degrees for the first hour of ice water though(???)....
