Heading to a friends anniversary party this weekend in St. Louis (Afton, south county). Other than the soulard market, which is awesome, does anyone have a secret spot for meat, rubs, sides?

If you like deep dish pizza, go to Baldacci's. I never miss it when I go to St. Looie.

Don't forget to stop at NT Hole's house for a dip in the pool!

He usually has no trouble filling it this early in the year after a few brewski's, so it should be pretty warm

Turn down your speakers before you click that link. It does look good though. I'll have to see if I can find the Travel Channel episode.

Pappys Smokehouse

The pit master and guys from Pappy's just open a new place right across the street from Soulard Market called Boagrts. Everything they serve is great. Items that stand out to me are the Pastrami and Prime Rib Sandwiches. Also the ribs are slightly different than what they serve over at Pappy's, I think they better actually. http://bogartssmokehouse.com/
Soulard Spice shop is right down the street and worth checking out if you are in the area.

I would also agree with a Gus pretzel if you are in the area. The Brat or Salciccia cooked inside of a pratzel area real treat. http://www.guspretzels.com/

I take pretty much all of my out of town guests by Goias on the Hill for a Hot Salami Sandwich. Any topping is good but for me its pepper jack cheese with peppercinis. http://www.gioiasdeli.com/

If you are into micro brews Urban Chestnut is owned by the former brew master for Michelob. It is also very close to Pappy's if you wanted to knock 2 birds out with one stone. http://www.urbanchestnut.com/home
There is also Square One in Lafayatte Square. They have a full restaurant menu and a great patio. They are kind of unique in that they do craft beers and they make in house spirits. http://www.squareonebrewery.com/

If you are into sauagses and other german meats G&W is the place to go. These guys to basically all of the brats in town: Busch Stadium, Grants Farm, The Dome, ect. http://www.gwsausage.com/cart/

Some of the places above have weird hours like 11-3 so keep that in mind when planning out your adventure. Also if you are at a place that has Billy Goat Chips, they are a must buy item.

Damm....I need a road trip to St. Louis!!! If you have not seen the Man V. Food episode that featured Pappy's try to look it up. Looked amazing, and their policy of serving only food cooked for that day is great. Go early.

Thanks guys!!! I've got enough places to fill up at least my next three trips to St. Louis. I believe I'm going to hook up with Ashmont for a stroll around the market and a pretzel (those sound amazing). Going to try to make it to St. Charles on Sunday. Should be one heck of a trip. Thanks again!!
