View Full Version : Smoking whole garlic cloves
Hey guys I have been put on a mission by my wife.
She saw some show the other day where they said that they smoked whole garlic cloves and then used it in other recipes etc.
Have any of you smoked the whole garlic? If so how are you doing it?
Thanks

Roy I trim the root end off a little into the meat of the clove and hit the cut end with a little olive oil, smoke till tender. Great stuff!
So kinda like you would do if roasting the garlic in the oven??? I gotta give that a try
I am going to be smoking a small brisket tomorrow. Do you think that the garlic will take longer or shorter than the meat? Just trying to figure out when to put them on.
Thanks
Roy
the garlic shouldn't take more than an hour. Just smoke roast it until its soft enough to squeeze each individual clove out of its skin. The cloves will separate within the bulb a little like a flower bud beninning to blossom.
Don't forget to drizzle with olive oil!

Jim's advice is sound. I would suggest that when you follow Jim's technique use a piece of foil or a pan to place the garlic on, cut side down. Otherwise, you will loose oils and the good stuff will fall through the grates throughout the smoking process.
Sounds yummy!
Thanks
I will be putting it on just before taking the meat off.
Have a good one.
