i'm interested.

what does $400 grill food allowance mean?

i am unfamiliar with ICBA, so if this is common terminology, i apologize.

SmokeInDaEye
05-05-2011, 12:00 PM
It's a stipend of $400 to offset the cost of the meat.

YankeeBBQ
05-05-2011, 12:09 PM
Will all teams have the same amount of meat or does more meat equal more votes ?

boogiesnap
05-05-2011, 12:12 PM
so, let me get this straight...:-D

no entry fee and they give you $400 towards food costs?

and $6000 payout?

now i am VERY interested.

thanks!:thumb:

shake n bake!

I missed out on the whole shake and bake conversation, but I thought a shake n bake is where the rules are flimsy, the money is suspect, and the organizer is absent for questions, or evasive. (like that Montana deal)

This seems to have the money in order, a stipend for teams, and IBCA sanctioning - I think it passes the shake and bake litmus test.

Besides I saw R2-BQ was gonna be there, and he never falls for a shake and bake from what I've heard. Instead of a lightsabre, it is more of a BBQ BS divining rod LOL.... Right Sled???

Nothing new. Bobo was with them the other day helping with the layout and mentioned that we will in fact be able to stay and enjoy the music. I didn't buy a ticket for myself but got tickets for my wife and kids.

Still waiting on the Sledcast, aka Deadcast, but it looks like rain from today through next Tuesday.

Picking up a bunch of rib tips and boneless chicken tenders early Friday and hope to be in Greenwich by 4pm or so.

Definitely next year. That crowd was huge but everyone was so nice. I never cooked and served so much before but thankfully my brother had us running like clockwork. Our only mistake was misplacing 4 whole cooked chicken that might have gotten us through the last 10 mins.

I dont think thats possible at all. I totally dropped the ball and underestimated the crowd/food and ended up only serving 255 people. I ran out of food in 45 minutes. You were serving food the entire 2 hours so im sure you received many more votes than me.

but, seriously folks...

this was an excellent event with great people, teams, and activities. the organizer spent alot of money both on the venue and the competitors. no joke.

we only kid because the scoring and results got a bit screwy.

although, i do beleive, there is no doubt the winner did in fact have the best peoples choice food that day.

i'm not 100% sure but i believe you need to be a greenwich resident to buy a ticket and get in.

it'll also be quite different than your standard KCBS competition.

Yes, but I don't think that can possibly happen. We served virtually non-stop for the same amount of time (2.5 hrs) last year and you guestimated we did 400-450. We'll have enough food for 750 though.

It would be interesting to see how people swing this.

Are competitors using Cambros and serving from there? How many people do you have on your team? I'd imagine that you'd have a line of servers and three or so people prepping food.

Sounds crazy but fun.

We've implemented a system similar to what Wendys put in place earlier this year which led to them topping Burger King for the 2nd spot of highest revenue burger chains. But without the Wendy's uniforms.

Everything boogie said here is true! Looks like this year is going to be even bigger and better. I have a phone call into the organizer to see if they corrected last years rules and scoring problems. If so, I will be very excited to be part of this great event in my hometown!
