New lurker and soon to be new BBQ'er here. Started off on a homebrewing forum asking about links to que'ing sites and this one came up. Have been looking to get into "this sport" for a while now but some unexpected "life events" came up and have pushed more than a few things aside. But now I'm long, and strong, and ready to get the brisket on! Need something to go with all this homebrew I got laying around. Hopefully will be picking up a WSM 22" this summer (finances willing) but in the meantime I'm going to start practicing some rubs and recipes >GASP!!!!< in the oven. I know...I know...moderators are on their way to ban my account as you read this. My gas grill barely cooks hot dogs right let alone trying to do something like BBQ.

Anyhoo, nice place ya got here and looking forward to putting some heat to some meat with y'all.

Welcome to the asylum, Lytnin!

We have a bunch of Wisconsin Brothers hanging around here.

Take a look at Craigs List for a used Weber Kettle while you're saving for the WSM. You can obviously grill on the Kettle plus so some smoking. then when you get the WSM you'll have a great duo.

Welcome from cajun country :clap2:

Ribs in the oven are ok as long as you par-boil them with liquid smoke first :becky::becky::becky:

Good to have you here Lytnin.

Welcome to the best clubhouse on the web!

Ron_L is wise! There are always plenty of used Weber kettles in Madison on CL.

Just be forewarned that there is an internationally recognized agreement that I have dibs on all CL WSMs within 250 miles of Wyocena. Please request my permission prior to attempting any purchase.

Welcome from SoCal! Another option to buying a WSM is to build a UDS - it can be done for cheap. There's a ton of info here on how to do that. Enjoy the site!

Welcome and greetings from a fellow homebrewer (and noob smoker) in Hickory, North Carolina. Homebrewing is the root of my interest in smoking meat. I think having a smoker running during the brew day is a match made in heaven. After the beer makes it into the fermenter, there should be some pulled pork ready to eat :)
