Hi all, Jeremy from Chicago (west suburbs) here.

New to the forum and to BBQ smoking world, and all amped up for the summer BBQ season.
I closed up for the winter, just not that die-hard yet. Smoker was under a 4ft drift on one point over the winter.

Last July for my 40th several buddies’ gave me $40. ea as a gift so I spent it on a smoker off CL and here I am.

Ya, just up 355.
Got my stick burner off CL in Downers Grove.

WOW, lots of Chicago folks here.

Know of any good spot to get raw rib tips?

Thanks for the welcoming guys. I have been picking through the site and learning lots.
Great to see lots if Chicago folks here.
Found my rib tips at Moo & Oink in Hazel Crest while working in the area. They are serious about BBQ!

Do you guys meet up a local events? I am looking to learn as much about comps this year so that I may try my hand next year.
Just smoked my first fatty last night for dinner :)

Go to Westmont Memorial Day Weekend.

From the teams listed so far, quite a few are Brethren teams (spend a couple minutes scanning threads in the Competition forum. Alot of folks put their team names in their signatures)

Here's a list of teams so far: http://westmontbbq.com/teams.html

Walk up to one of them, Capt Ron, 2 Skinny Cooks, etc, introduce yourself as a new member here and that your interested in learning and you won't get them to shut up :heh:

Seriously, I doubt any of the teams would turn you away.

BUT!!!!!, do not try and talk to them on the second day of the competition portion, as they are in their zone and working on entries and such.

And have fun!!
