So last week we enterered a local comp that we had only even heard about 2 days prior. It was only about mile from our house so not a lot of prep needed which was nice.
Anyway, it was one of those local comps where they use celebrity judges and they wanted a platter for presentation and then 7 small plates to taste 1 of each of what your team is turning in, it was ribs for us.
Now, put on your sunglasses and behold!! :)

Regardless of the magical rib carpet ride we ended up winning and it was a lot of fun cause our families where there. Good times. :)

Did it take longer to put together the garnish than it did to cook the ribs? :-D
Great looking platter! Congrats on the win!

Someone is an artist with the garnish. Quite the landscaping job.
The ribs do look good.
Congrats and thanks for giving us a look.

I suspect you won because the ribs looked and tasted great.
If you squint your eyes just right you can see them in the picture .:becky:

Thanks everyone!
The garnish was done by a buddy of mine who is a Culinary Inst Grad, I was on the pit. I was actually okay with the ribs, they werent near as dark as the pic makes them seem under the tent. I ended up not glazing them after they got off the pit as I was concerned the the local celeb judges may have found them too spicey as I used a dummied down version of blues hog so just let them rip.
Again, it was a lot of fun and I know I have a long way to go before I get a call in a real event but Ill keep working at it! :)

That looks really good Congrats
...and this is why I'm not doing open garnish events anymore. Parsley we can do, but this?
Nice job with it, though. The ribs DO look good.

Show the meat off like that with a power point presentation and you need to take that act to Memphis next month.
Very nice...are you boys gonna be in Venice in two weeks?

Yes sir! I've only cooked in one other real comp before so just hoping I do my part (ribs) for us to be respectable.
Thanks again, everyone!
