everything seems to be working properly...I can zoom in (to an extent) and turn the pages, but the font is very hard to read. Almost like the letters are "shadowed" or blurry.....any suggestions???

Wow, as part Native American, I totally misread the title. LOL
I have the same problem. I use Firefox. However, after a few seconds it clears right up. What browser are you using? Maybe try again and wait a bit longer...bandwidth issue? IDK

Firefox (by Mozilla) and Chrome (by google) are both free and are far better than Internet Explorer.
I prefer firefox, but only cause I am more used to it, and there are a ton of free plugins available
