View Full Version : Anyone used cheesecloth while Q'n? Good for OS adds ?

I thought rub may stay on better through mops or sprays? :?:

Would probably hold the baste to the meat better as well.

Fruit zest, onion slices, garlic, bacon....etc would keep contact to the meat easy enough. Hate using toothpicks for that.

Dunno what the top temp for cheesecloth is though.

Maybe no overt benefit..... gonna try it this weekend and see what works.

Got 2 -6# butts and 2 pork loins to Q for a Sunday pre-Christmas feed.

I do recall someone using it but it was because he wanted to cut down the amount of smoke that was getting to the pork butt. So I am assuming it will absorb a lot of smoke.

If you soak cheese cloth in a vinegar mop and wrap a pork butt with it, you can use it to cut down the smoke that you lay on a butt but not hurt bark formation like foil does. When you remove the cheese cloth a lot of the smoke that was layed is gone with the cheese cloth. Bark is futher along than using other methods to achieve the same result.
