Good afternoon,

I have a special request from my fellow Brethern and I hope this is the right place to post this.

I went through a divorce a few years ago and moved from St Louis to Louisiana. My oldest daughter (22) still lives in the St Louis area and my youngest daughter (19) moved to Austin. They both expressed how much they miss my Q, our family time at the grill and would like to spend time with me again around the fire.

Here is my request for assistance.

My girls and I would like to spend a weekend with a BBQ team. Preferably a completion close to St Louis or Memphis and another close to Austin. This would allow me to spend one weekend alone with each.

A little history about me: I have 30+ years of restaurant experience from the kitchen to a Director or Operations and everything in between. We will pay our own expenses and I would be willing to make a donation to the team.

Thanks in advance for your consideration,
Scott

Sounds like a great plan to spend time with your family. Good luck. If you have any more family up north (NY), let me know.

You might want to stop by the MBN contest in Alexandria (LA) or the IBCA contest in Marksville (LA)(at the casino) on March 18-19 and talk to a few teams...I think they'll be glad to help you if they can!

For St Louis, contact Vexter1 on this forum and the Smoke Ring comp forum(he hangs out there more)

His website is www.hque.us

Shannon is a great guy, and will for sure help you out.

Tell him I suggested you contact him.

Yeah, Shannon would be great. Tell your daughter to come to the Washington Mo or Hazelwood contests in april. Anyone is welcome to hang in our camp too. Peter

I agree that Shannon is a great guy, and worth a call. A couple years ago he let me hang out at his site for a few hours on Friday evening with him, Stel, and the gang, though they didn't have room for me to stay the whole time.

On another note, I grew up in Memphis and lived in St. Louis for 10 years, so I am familiar with both areas, but I moved to Nashville a couple years ago and will be competing here this year. It may not be the area you are interested in, but I am putting together a small team, and if you and your gang would like to hang out at our site for a competition, lemme know. Our first competition is going to be in Winchester, TN, which is the opposite direction from both MEM and STL, but you'd be welcome. Most of our comps this year will be in that direction, but I am planning on competing in a comp in Clarksville, TN if they have it this year and it fits our schedule, which is about four hours from both Memphis and STL. Lemme know if any of this sounds interesting to you.

I've cooked next to Shannon and some of his guys before. Class act all the way.

Failing that, you and your daughter are welcome to hang out with me and my crew at the Hazelwood comp in April.

Shoot me a PM if you want to join us.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the offers. I am a bit emotional today and cannot express enough how much your offers mean to my family and myself.
Chromesporty has Austin covered and Ammore covered the St Louis request.

Time to dry my eyes and get back to work. Thanks again. Don't mean to be sappy. Just really miss my girls

Glad you got it covered. I can see myself in your position in a few years after my "Q Crew" heads off to wherever they'll head off to.

Thanks for the compliments guys!! We always try to pay it forward, if it weren't for all the great people who helped us, we couldn't have done it - so we're happy to re-pay any time! Sorry I missed this - been busy lately, however - if Big O Dang O can't come through for ya - drop me a line - Aaron is a great guy to hang with, so you got a good one to roll with. Drop me a line if you need anything - be happy to help if possible! You'd have fun with Neil from Too Sauced Too - great group to hang with for sure!
