I got a call from a friend's wife last night. She's looking to buy her husband a
Masterbuilt Triple Crown Charcoal Smoker for christmas. Anybody have any exeperience with this thing?

I already suggested a WSM - but she's on a tight budget. I also mentioned the brinkman, but she says the only thing she can find is the Masterbuilt.

I saw one at a local Academy.

You just think the metal is thin on Charbroil Bandera's........

It's slightly physically larger than a WSM at, I'd guess, less than half the weight.

Robert, this is the ECB, with fryer that can be used to smoke or grill with charcoal or gas, or the fryer can be used separately. Fryer makes an excellent compliment to any charcoal smoker. Its in the same price range as the Masterbuilt. If shipping doesn't kill the deal, I think its a better buy.

Consider recommending a plain full-size Weber Kettle and later making an extension ring out of a 55-gallon drum.
