The BRETHREN bash

At least twice a year, our members get together at one of our Brethren Bashes. They go on for 4 days, from Thursday thru Sunday. There are two Major Bashes, one on Long Island and one in the Chicago suburbs. Members fly and drive in from all over the country to attend these events. Also, throughout the year, local Mini-bashes, or Bar-bashes happen in different regions of the country. There are also Road Trips, where members travleing on business trips try to hook up with members who may be local to their destination. The Bash allows us to put faces with the names on our computer screens, to meet the people we talk to all year and to actually shake hands and get to know each other personally.

The Start of them all.

Bar Bashes.

A Brethren Bash is a gathering where members open up their homes, invariably, to people they have never met in person. Early in our evolution, our first bash was filled with the normal apprehension of meeting someone for the first time, never mind having them stay at your home for 3 days. Upon the very first face to face handshake, we realized that we know these people, in fact, we know them well. There is NO Weirdness, no uncomfortable feelings, it is like meeting your family. Thats what we are all about...Long term friendships, and family.

The bashes have been labeled by a Brethren Wife as Manly Men Eat Meat. We cook for 3 days straight, party all day and into the early morning hours, the pits do not cool off for 4 days and the only source of a carb comes from beer or bbq sauce. At the end of a bash, you are tired, have absorbed enough smoke in your pores to last for a week, and you made friendships that will last a lifetime.
