I’m calling these “archways” even though there’s no arch. Anyway, got both sides supported and running 2 sections of 1/2” rebar to support the blocks. The dry fit with the blocks resting on the rebar was perfectly level.

I did some research and decided to use rapid set mortar mix for support. That stuff cures to 7,000 psi and meant for super heavy duty applications.
